Developing a fertilization system for broadcasted rice: A case study in the central plain of Vietnam
1991
Vinh, Thanh Tran
Fertilizer experiment with broadcasted rice was conducted on degraded soil in Central Plain of Vietnam at the Agricultural Experiment Station. Agricultural University No.2, Hue city, Vietnam in winter-spring season 1991 in order to: - Clarify the relationships between the concentration of various nutrients at different stages of growth and yield together with nutrients concentration of plant at maturity. - On the basis of evaluation of the above relationships to develop methods of quantitative control of nutritional status of young plant by topdressing with fertilizers and hence control of final yield. - To develop preliminary therapy models of N and P. The experiment was 3*3 systematic design including three levels and combinations of N and P. At 5 weeks after broadcasting, half of the plots were topdressed with three levels of N. Application of N increased growth and concentration of N, P, K, Na, Fe and Zn, when applied as basal dressing. Application of P also increased growth and concentration of P, K, Fe, Na, Zn. Preliminary models of diagnosis and yield prognosis were developed. They demonstrate clear relationships between application of nutrients, chemical composition of young plant and final yield. Diagnosis and yield prognosis were expressed quantitatively and could thus be tested by comparing the actual yields with calculated ones.
