Preliminary study on P. monodon culture in acid sulfate soil was conducted at Tak-Bai district, Narathiwas province. The soil's pH prior to experiment was 3.50. Two ponds size of 37*58*1.8 cubic m (1.3 rai) were constructed. Acid sulfate soil was washed out several times by pumping water in and draining out. P. monodon average size of 5.33 cm. TL; with average weight of 1.15 gm were stocked with density of 20 inds/square m. The water exchange had been done regularly in 80 days culture periods. The result showed shrimp size 28-32 inds/kg with mean individual weight of 33.33 gm when harvested. The production were 980 and 920 kg/pond or 753.85 and 707.69 kg/rai. Survival rates were 72.70 percent and 67.50 percent with food conversion ratio of 3.16:1 and 3.25:1.
