Design of feed mixing wagon for small tractor

Feed mixing wagon of horizontal mixing action suitable for small size tractor (16-30 hp.) has been developed. It comprises of chain and belt transmission unit, a main mixer paddle, two additional auger type mixer and belt discharge unit. The trailed wagon has 2 wheels and loading capacity of 1.9 cubic m. Investigation on coefficients of variation (C.V.) of mixing components (using chopped corn straw and concentrate feeds), power requirement on mixing operation and overall power requirement, relating to working speed on main power input shaft and mixing time, was found that, at 1300-1500 rpm engine revolution (35-45 rpm of main paddle revolution) increase the mixing time did not significantly improve the mixing process but increased the power requirement. The optimum mixing time was 2 min at 1300 rpm engine revolution which provide C.V. of 13.49 and 6.9 percent, and power requirement of 4.33 and 2.13 kw for feeding formular 1 and 2, respectively. Operating cost under feeding rate 600 kg/hr at feed consumption 600, 1200 kg/day and feeding time of 15 min were 0.131 and 0.092 baht/kg respectively.
