High-lysine feed supplement from cassava

Eleven strains of isolated Aspergillus and 3 strains of Rhizopus which were proved to have high potency in raw cassava starch hydrolysis were shown to be able to produce pectinase. Strain no. 26R which were previously identified to be Rhizopus sp. showed the highest efficiency in pectinase production in 2 days by solid state fermentation on the koji of wheat bran and rice husk (18:2) with 1 gram of raw cassava starch per 20 gram of the solid substrates. The enzyme production rates were constantly high even 6 days of incubation. The efficiency of pectinase production by Rhizopus 26R in 3-7 days were respectively 1.7 and 2.4 times higher on the koji of wheat bran and rice husk (18:2) with the addition of 1 g starch and 1 g pectin than that on the koji of only wheat bran and rice husk (18:2). So far. the most efficiency of pectinase production by this strain was shown when the mold was cultivated on the mixed substrates of wheat bran, rice bran and rice husk (9:9:2) by 7 times higher in 7 day cultivation.
