Seed development and maturation of chilies

Flowering pattern and seed development of four chili varieties were studied to determine that optimum time of harvest for seed production. The days to peak flowering were otained at 59, 66, 74 and 111 days after transplanting in Bachang, Leung, Ton Tung and Huay Sri Ton (11, 11, 33 and 22 flowers/plant) respectively. Seeds reached their physiological maturity at 48 days after anthesis (Bangchang) and 52 days after anthesis (Huay Sri Ton).
