Study on cocoa leaf eating beetles

Survey was carried out to study the beetles occuring in cocoa plantations in Chumphon Horticultural Research Centre showed that there were 18 species as follows: Apogonia sp.; Microtrichia sp., Adoretus sp., Phrixopogon sp., Desimidophorous breviusculus, Prodioctes sp., Sepiomus sp., Platytrachelus psittacinus, Hypomeces squamosus, Astycus lateralis, Aulacophora similis, Aulacophora sp., Aulacophora foveicollis, Xyleborus sp., Xylothrip flavipes, Androcerus stratus, Platypus sp. and Coptops polyspila, The assesment of damaging area of cocoa leaves revealed that the peak of damage had been occured 2 times in 1989, the first peak was in May that the beginning of rainfall, the second was in October.
