Effect of environmental model on motivation level of aggression and conflict of Elephas maximus

Study of motivation level of aggression and conflict of elephants in several conditions e.g. semi-natural, limited area, showing and caring, grouping and bathing were carried out at five places : Chiang Mai Zoo, Pong-yaeng Elephant Camp, Maesa Elephant Camp, Taeng-daw Elephant Training Centre, Chiang Mai and Thai Elephant Conservation Centre, Lampang. Elephants showed 16 aggressive patterns and 79 conflict patterns. Motivation level of conflict was higher than motivation level of aggression. Motivation level of aggression was direct variation with releaser but motivation level of conflict was reverse variation with releaser. The motivation level of aggression in showing and caring condition and motivation level of conflict in limited area condition were the highest.
