Growth and yield of banana (cv. Amritsagar) were increased with added NPK fertilizers and cowdung in the Grey Terrace soil of Joydebpur, Gazipur, Bangladesh. Application of 300 g N, 200 g P2O5, 500g K2O/plant and 20 t cowdung/ha produced the highest yield of 27.40 t/ha which was 105, 75, 94 and 33 percent higher over the control treatments of N, P, K and cowdung respectively. Highest gross return/ha (Tk. 274,000) and highest additional return (Tk. 196,200) over control were obtained from this treatment. Whereas, application of 300 g N, 200 g P2O5, 400 g K2O/plant and 20 t cowdung/ha (T4) gave the highest benefit cost ratio (7.52:1) and lowest in N control treatment (3.10:1) in comparison to control. Therefore, it was suggested that T4 treatment was economically viable for banana cultivation for Dhaka region.
