Degradability of Radiation Vulcanized Natural Rubber Latex (RVNRL) products in comparison with conventionally vulcanized, Sulfur Vulcanized Natural Rubber Latex (SVNRL), were studied in four conditions: room temperature, directly exposed to sun light, under the tree shade, and 70 deg C in an oven. The RVNRL products degraded rapidly, much more than did the SVNRL products, directly exposed to sunlight, at under the tree and at 70 deg C in the oven. At room temperature, RVNRL product degraded slightly more rapidly than did SVNRL product. Leaching of RVNRL films with 1 percent ammonia solution instead of water resulted in accelerated degradation of RVNRL. Selected antioxidant in this study was not effective in increasing the stability of SVNRL product before use but could be delayed the degradability of the product after use.
