Laboratory, greenhouse and field experiments were conducted with purpose of improving acid sandy soil through chemical fertilizer, lime and city compost applications for cotton growth. It was found that soil acidity, available phosphorus as well as soil organic matter were important for cotton growth. The city compost played the most important role in improving soil and cotton production. Beneficial effect of city compost was apparent in improving soil by decreasing soil acidity, increasing available phosphorus and potassium contents and decreasing extractable aluminum content.
