1998
Suwit Bunyawanitkun, Chulalongkorn Univ., Bangkok (Thailand). Energy Research Inst.
In this research, the possibility of employing tapioca as a combustion fuel in an industrial furnace was tested and verified. An actual combustion was demonstrated for the, committee on Energy, house of representative, to illustrate its potential as a fuel type which could be included in the energy development plan in the future. The demonstration was conducted at thaialcohol factory Co.,Ltd. Banglane, Nakhon Pathom. The tests was first carried out for the mix of rice husk, tapioca and bio-gas, them only the tapioca for the combustion in a conventional burner, traveling rate furnace. The cost is ranged between 20.91-22.22 Baht/kWh, which is still very high, since the price of tapioca at the buying point was rather high and the amount of combusted tapioca could not be accurately measured.
