Study was conducted to examine effect of rumensin capsule (RC) in postpartum beef cows. Eight pregnant beef cows were used in repeated measurement design. Cows were divided into two groups. The first four beef cows were assigned as a control group while the second group was received RC two weeks before calving by insertinng through rumino-reticular orifice. Each cow was housed individually Urea-treated straw and water were provided ad libitum while concentrate was fed once a day. The intaken amount of roughage, concentrate, total feed, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber, and acid detergent fiber for the control and RC group were same (P0.05). Body weight change, pulse, rectum temperature and first heat period of two groups were not significant difference (P0.05). Feed cost between the control and the RC group averaged 17.43 and 20.19 bath/head/day respectively. Our data indicated that rumensin capsule had no effect on recover and health improvement of postpartum beef cows, but increased feed cost.
