In vitro propagation of neck orange (Citrus reticulata Blanco.) by microcutting
1992
Aruni Muangkaeongam | Sompong Techato
Cultures from four explants of three week-old seedlings of Neck orange namely, node, cotyledonary node, stem and leaf were carried out on MT medium with 0.5 mg/1 NAA and 1.0 mg/1 BA. Among the explants, it was found that node yielded the highest number of shoots (ca. 15 shoots per explant) after culturing for 5 weeks, followed by cotyledonary node and stem, respectively. Leaf explant did not produce shoot. Shoots were rooted with 89.87 percent when transferred to half strength MS medium (1/2 MS) with 1 mg/l IBA and 500 mg/l activated charcoal after culturing for 4 weeks. This procedure could help in obtaining a high number of Neck orange plantlets in a short time.
