Effects of density, light intensity, nitrate and phosphate concentration on growth of Polycavernosa fisheri from Pattati province

Effects of various environmental factors i.e. algal density, light intensity and various concentrations of nitrate and phosphate on the growth of Polycavernosa fisheri were studied. Each experiment was carried out for 6 weeks. The results showed that the specific growth rate of the cultured algae which biomass was reduced to the weight of inovulum biweekly is higher than that of the one without biomass reduction. The growth of algae at the light intensity of 400 lux is higher than those at 650, 300 and 200 lux. The most suitable nitrate and phosphate concentrations for the cultivation of algae in the Provasoli's enriched media are 0.82 and 0.033 mM, respectively.
