Large scale trial of harvesting methods on aflatoxin occurrence in the storage

Ear maize harvested then stored with husk for eight weeks was tested in the station for three years. The effect of harvest with husk was significantly reduced aflatoxin contamination during the storage comparing to the conventional method which removed husk in the field. This trial was preceded based on the above result to farm scale. The effect of harvesting ear maize with husk was significant reduction of aflatoxin by 59.3 percent when the condition of year high contamination. However when contamination level of the year was low, the effect is not recognized. The level of contamination was considered in associating with the maturity or initial moisture at harvest.
