Chromosome study of the genus Rhynchostylis of orchids

This research is studying the somatic chromosome from root tip of three species in the genus Rhynchostylis (Rhy. gigantea, Rhy. retusa and Rhy. coelestis), and three strains in the species Rhynchostylis gigantea (Chang Daeng, Chang Phuag and Chang Kra). The result of this studying showed that the somatic chromosome number of all species of the genus rhynchostylis are equal (2n=38) and the chromosome morphology are very similar, an international standard for karyotype arrangement has not yet been elaborated. This research can not show the karyotype of each species.
