Experiments were conducted at 2 locations in Chiang Mai province during February-May, 1998. The herbicides were treated as early-postemergence to weeds and broccoli (Brassica oleracea L.) by knapsack sprayer with flat fan nozze with a spray volume of 60 l/rai. It was indicated that quizalofop-P-tefuryl ((R)-2-(4-(6-chloroquinoxalin-2-yloxy) propionic acid) at the rate of more than 9.6 g ai/rai gave excellent control of annual grass weeds such as Digitaria adscendens H.B.K. Henr., Echinochloa colona (L.) Link. and Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn. when assessed at 21 days after application. The efficacy of quizalofop-P-tefuryl at 60 g ai/rai for annual grass weed control was equivalent to fluazifop-butyl ((+-)-2-(4-((5-(trifluoromethyl)-2-pyridinyl) oxy) phenoxy)-propionic acid] at 24.0 g ai/rai. The use of quizalofop-P-tefuryl at the rate of 6.0-12.00 g ai/rai and fluazifop-butyl at the rate of 24.0 g ai/rai caused no phytotoxic in broccoli. The application of quizalofop-P-tefuryl for annual grass weed control could increase yield of broccoli by 128-307 percent when compared with non-weeded plot.
