Survey of the soybean growers problems: Implication for extension education

Study was conducted to identify the problems involved in soybean production of farmers in nine villages at Boon-Nak Pattana Sub-District, Muang District, Lampang Province. The population of this study was 1,221 farmers, simple random sampling technique of 301 soybean growers was employed. Data were collected by the use of questionnaires. Statistical procedures included percentage and mean score. The results of this study showed that the problems facing soybean growers in overall was moderate. However, when consider to each problem, it was found that low price of productivity (low profit) was ranked as the first problem. The second problems were lack of good quality seeds and high cost of production such as chemicals and fertilizers. The third problem was lack of knowledge in soybean production. Implication of this findings for planners and extension workers is that soybean growers problems should be taken into base line data. This would be useful proper for designing programs related to agricultural extension, accordingly, to the most benefit of the soybean growers.
