Vegetable production technology transfer to farmers

Green asparagus (Asparagus officinalis) production technology developed by Kasetsart University (TOP/AVRDC) was transferred to Thung Khwang Farmer Group, Amphur Kamphaeng Saen, Nakhonpathom Province since 1988-1993. Green asparagus approximately 3-15 tons per day were sold to 3 exporter companies: Thai Topy Co., Ltd., Eastern Fruit Co., Ltd., and Amphol Food Processing Co., Ltd., by signed contract between companies and Thung Khwang Farmer Group for 5 years (Thai Topy and Amphol Food Processing Co., Ltd.) Eastern Fruit Company for 2 years. Green asparagus were sold by grading A, B, C inspect (tight spear) and outspect A, B, C (loos spear), 25 centimeter long and garantee long and garantee price per kilogram were set in the signed contract. Production Area of the Project (TOP/AVRDC) 1. Nakhonpathom Province: - Amphur Kamphaeng Saen: Tambon Thung Khwang, Tambol Huai Monthong, Tambol Thung Bua, Tambol Thung Krapanghome - Amphur Munag : Tambol Nong Ngu Leam 2. Rajburi Province : - Amphur Bangpong : Tambol Pakrat and Tambol Krabyai - Amphur Mung : Tambol Nong Pakrong - Amphur Damnurn Sadung : Tambol Don Khlang 3. Kanchanaburi Province : - Amphur Tamaka : Tambol Yang Muang and Tambol Nonglan. Total production area for 3 companies approximate 1000 rais, 400 families of green asparagus cultivation.
