Study of growing vetiver grass for soil moisture conservation in orchard

Study of growing vetiver grass for soil moisture conservation in orchards was carried out in Uttradit Land Development Station on Chiang Khan soil series at 5 percent slope. The results showed that planting vetiver grass in a half-circle of 2 m radius below the tree gave the best in conserving the soil moisture followed by planting vetiver grass in circle and half circle with 4 m radius, planting vetiver grass in the row 4 m apart from the tree gave the lowest in conserving the moisture. It was concluded that planting vetiver grass in half circle below the tree can conserved the moisture in the soil for the tree.
