Experiment with mango cv. Tommy Atkins was carried out in Livramento N. Senhora, from Nov/95 to Nov/96, with the objective of evaluating the flowering, number of fruits per panicles, per plant, fruit weight average, production of fruit and economical aspects. Five randomly chosen plots of four plants each were treated with three applications of 3 percent potassium nitrate (KNO3) differing time intervals (a sixth plot served as control): no treatment, one, three, five seven, nine days of intervals. The effect of (KNO3) in the anticipation of the flowering: the number of fruits per panicle did not vary from one treatment to another, all plots treated with (KNO3) presented higher number of fruits per tree, with no significant differences among them during the harvest of Sept/96 and in the total production, it was observed that the fruit weight average was no affected by (KNO3) treatments, (KNO3) treatments promoted higher production per tree and also greater relation benefit/cost and higher rentability.
