Effect of spirulina algae on pigmentation, growth, survival rate and feed conversion ratio of young ranchu fish (Carassius auratus) were studied. The ranchu fish were fed with diets containing five concentrations of spirulina algae at 0, 8, 10, 12 and 14 percentage. The results showed that there were not significant differences on growth, survival rate and feed conversion ratio of the fish. However, there was significant difference on color of fins and body of the fish and the additional of 12 and 14 percentage of spirulina algae were highly effective in producing deeper coloration in ranchu fish. It can be said that spirulina algae can be a source of carotenoid pigment for color quality improvement of ranchu fish.
