Ivermectin toxicosis in puppies: Case report

Eleven fourteen-day-old Alsatian puppies were depressed, respiratory failure and died finally after 2-3 hours receving 0.2 c.c. and unknown drug for deworming. The necropsy findings, defined histopathological lesions and bacterial culture were performed in six out of eleven carcasses. The necropsy findings and microscopic lesions revealed brain congestion, lung, liver and renal failure. Not found pathogenic bacteria in bacterial culture. The residual drug from feeding syringe was identified by pharmacological assay and the result was lvermectin concentrated about 500 micro g/ml.
