Analysis of coconut oil methyl ester by capillary gas chromatography was studied. Methyl esters were prepared from coconut oil through transesterification in batch reactor, using potassium hydroxide as a catalyst. Prior to analysis, the samples were derivatized to be volatile substances with N-methyl-N-trimethysilyltrifluoroacetamide (MSTFA)Qualitative and quantitative analysis of coconut oil methyl ester were performed with gas chromatograph equipped with a FID and 15 m*0.32 mm DB-5ht capillary column. It was found that separation of methyl ester, mono-,di- and triglyceride was obtained by temperature programming from 50-350 deg C. This analytical method gave good results for analysis of methyl ester content in coconut oil methyl ester product.
