1997
Aksu, S. | Isik, E. (Ataturk Central Horticultural Research Inst., Yalova (Turkey))
In this study, different rates of sugar beet molasses (2%, 3%, 4% and 6%) was used as submerged culture medium and the effect of rates on mycelium growth of Agaricus bisporus was investigated. In addition, development of submerged culture mycelium in mushroom compost was examined. Myceliums developing in submerged culture were evaluated according to their dry matter contents. 3% and 4% sugar beet molasses added into top water, gave higher dry matter value than the other rates. But in the stage of mushroom production at compost medium the highest mushroom yield was obtained from wheat grain spawn which had been included as control treatment. While spawn running period at compost was completed in 14 days with grain spawn that period of mycelium of submerged culture at compost was completed in 25 days. Grain spawn (control treatment) started cropping 33 days after spawning and other treatments of submerged culture started 44 days after spawning
