The aim of this study is to evaluate pathophysiologic changes in kidneys of cats that has diaphragmatic hernia, preoperative and postoperative durations using Doppler ultrasonography which is a non-invasive diagnostic method, to measure kidney RI values and examining the availability. 10 different breed and age cats used for this study.Clinical, radiographic and ultrasonographic examinations of the cases were recorded and recorded. Each cases RI measurements has done by two different veterinary surgeons. Intraoperative findings recorded and postoperative RI measurements made by two different veterinary surgeons in days 1 and 10. In cases of severe respiratory stress and hypoxia, preoperative RI values were measured above the threshold value of 0.71. In cases of liver congestion and significant increase in liver enzymes the RI values were measured on the threshold value on postoperative day 1. In the four cases that evaluated in the study, it was seen that the RI measurements pre- and postoperative controls did not exceed the threshold value. As result, determination of the effect of hemodynamic changes on the kidney because of hypoxia and cardiovascular abnormalities, early detection of hepatorenal syndrome due to congestion and incarceration in cases of hepatic herniation, Doppler ultrasonography can be used to detect the increase of kidney RI values.
