Determination of soil-borne fungi caused by rot root and crown in melons (Cucumis melo L.) grown in Mardi̇n province

In this study, the presence and the incidence of soil borne fungi causing root rot in melon roots were investigated, in Mardin province and in the districts of Midyat, Ömerli and Dargeçit.The infection rate of Mardin province and the districts of Midyat, Ömerli and Dargeçit were determined as %77.8, %72.2 and %72.05 respectively, based on surveys carried out in 2013.The isolations performed with the infected samples always resulted Fusarium spp. infect among the isolates, two were determined as Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.melonis. The pathogenicity test were performed for both isolates. The results showed that the isolates exhibited %73.3 and %40 disease severity.
