Determination of mastic production types and contents and components of essential oil in leaves on natural and vaccinated mastic trees in Izmir Cesme province

People have searched healing in nature and as a result of their experiences for centuries on the use of medicinal plants have never stopped. Drugs, especially synthetic and chemical content, the emergence of side effects increased use of medicinal plants. Medicinal herbs are used in many fields such as spices, pharmaceuticals, beverages, perfumes, soaps, confectionery, cosmetics, toothpaste, chewing gum, medicinal and relaxing tea manufacture, essences, flavor, etc. Orientation of the people to medicinal plants in the world, has created a huge market. Some countries obtain no substantial income from the trade of medicinal plants.In this study, gum component and methods of production of essential oil components and leaves of Pistacia lentiscus L. wild and grafted species are determined in 149 ha areas of Izmir High Technological Institute in Izmir-Urla. The leaves that collected from wild and grafted trees are divided to their component by Solid Phase Microextraction-SPME. According to GC-MS analyses results the most effective contents were determined as myrcene (%48,08 and 30,96), Cadina-1 (6) (%16,79 and 20,43) and Aromadendrene (% 6,57 and 16,53). Results were compared with the other studies that conducted in Turkey and other countries.It is necessary to describe economic value of gum tree to residents of region and also determine to presence of gum by suitable planning and production methods for reuniting of deserves for gum that has many using areas in World. In addition to this, precautions should be taken for continuity of gum trees.
