Evaluation of Spring Sown Oat Genotypes (Avena sativa L.) in Terms of Yield and Yield Components under Karaman Conditions
2016
Sobayoglu, Ramazan | Topal, Ali
This research was conducted to determine suitable oat genotypes for spring sowing in Karaman ecological conditions during 2015 growing season. Experimental design was completely randomized blocks design with four replications. Eight oat cultivars (Yeşilköy 1779, Checota, Faikbey, Seydişehir, Sebat, Yeniçeri, Kırklar ve Kahraman) and two local genotypes (Yerli 1 ve Yerli 2) were included as a research material. The panicle number of per square meter, plant height, panicle length, husk rate, thousand kernel weight and grain yield were analyzed within the study. According the results, mean values of the genotypes changed between 99.0-241.0 kg/da for grain yield; 430.0-532.5 for panicle number per square meter; 54.672.8 cm for plant height; 15.7-18.1 cm for panicle length; 25.3-46.9 g for thousand kernel weight and 7.3% 34.5% for husk rate. According to the grain yield results Yeşilköy-1779 (241.4 kg/da), Seydişehir (206.7 kg/da) and Faikbey (201.8 kg/da) were the best genotypes for spring sowing in Karaman conditions. The lowest husk ratio (7.3%) was obtained from the Kahraman cultivar.
