Vernalisation requirements of the wheat varieties widely cultivated in Hungary over the last fifty years
2002
Megyeri, M. | Lang, L. | Bedo, Z.
The vernalisation requirements of 50 winter wheat varieties widely cultivated over the past 50 years or at present in Hungary were studied in the phytotron under controlled conditions with constant daylength and light intensity. The close significant correlation between the heading dates recorded in the phytotron and field proved that the 55-day vernalisation treatment completely satisfied the cold requirement of the varieties examined. The 35-55-day vernalisation requirements demonstrated in the experiment were in line with the vernalisation requirements characteristic of the winter wheat species. The minimum vernalisation requirement ranged from 0-30 days depending on the variety.
