Given the limited available evaluation reports on local rabbit breed characterisations, production variables, crossbred performances, and environmental factors, the Mediterranean Rabbit Group has undertaken the task to develop standardized descriptors for breed-strain characterisations of rabbits in Mediterranean countries. The purpose of this document is to present a descriptive model for rabbit genetic resources, jointly with the examples applied to two Egyptian rabbit breeds, Baladi and Giza. This model is wide and comprehensive and not necessarily all the information that is requested will be available for all Mediterranean rabbit breeds.
