Financial factors affecting agricultural cooperative performance in Crete
1998
Sergaki, P.
It has been widely recognized that the economic health of Cretan Cooperatives has been failing in recent years. Consequently, the main purpose of this study is to examine how financial characteristics affect cooperative profitability. In so going, data has been collected over the last decade, both from the Agricultural Unions in Crete and from forty four of the larger Greek private firms involved in corresponding industrial fields with the former, in an attempt to compare and contrast their financial structure and policies. The results of the financial analyses were used, with the help of panel data and OLS, Ordinary Least Squares techniques, to estimate those parameters which would determine the profit performance of the Unions of Cooperatives in Crete.
