Beetle diversity at Ulu Sumbiling, Sg. Melalap was surveyed. A total of 1,687 specimens representing 64 morphospecies from 27 families were sampled. Scarabaeidae, Tenebrionidae and Chrysomelidae were the three most speciose families while Dryopidae, Hybororidae and Tenebrionidae were the most abundant families recorded. The abundant families were dominated by mostly one species, namely ?Sostea sp. (Dryopidae), Phaeochrous lobatus (Hybosoridae) and Leiochrinus sp. (Tenebrionidae). The diversity, however, was relatively low, as indicated by the Shannon Wiener index, with the value of 1.32. Beetle diversity was also compared with other sites in Borneo.
