The random amplified microsatellite (RAMS) technique was used to study Ganoderma isolates from infected oil palm and coconut stumps from different locations in Malaysia. Variations in banding patterns were observed within and between the two groups of fungi. However four bands, two (900 bp and 1200 bp) produced by (CGA)5 primer and two (450 bp and 480 bp) by (CCA)5 primer were common for all the Ganoderma isolates. These common bands could be used as diagnostic' bands for Ganoderma from infected oil palm and coconut stumps.
