Evaluation of vegetable pepper assortment

Biological, morphological and technological characteristics of 19 varieties of vegetable peppers were experimentally investigated in the Slovak Republic during three consecutive years. The plants were cultivated either under plastic tunnels or in fields according to their suitability. Twelve important traits concerning fruit maturity, shape, size, weight, colour, taste, and ascorbic acid concentrations were evaluated. Considerable differences in the studied traits were observed between the varieties and years. The best results in most of the studied characteristics were found in the varieties Imelska and Nesvadska (under plastic tunnels), Slovakia and Lumina (both under plastic tunnels and in fields), Golde, Rubinova, Marysa, and Citrina (in fields).
