On the identification of the eggshell elastic properties under quasistatic compression

The aim of this study was to assess elastic constants of egg shells when compressed between two plates. Experimental values of deformation measured on the egg shell surface were compared with the calculated ones. The measurements were carried out in one point using different strength levels. The experimental results show that the deformation as well as the compression depended linearly on the strain untill the egg shell was broken. The calculated values of elastic properties did not correspond to the real ones.
