In sacco technique was used to measure NDF degradability and release of Mg, Ca, Zn, Cu, Fe in the rumen from six forages as follows: lucerne hay from the 1st (LH1) and from the 2nd cut (LH2), orchard grass (G), grass silage (GS), red clover silage treated with Feedtech (CSFT) and/or with Kofasil (CSKO). The forages differed in their NDF and mineral concentrations. The release of minerals and NDF was very well expressed by cubic polynomials. The release of minerals was significantly higher when LH1, LH2, CSFT, CSKO than when G or GS were used. It ranked as follows: Mg more than Fe more than Cu more than Ca more than Zn. Minimum and maximum mineral percentages that disappeared from different forages were as follows: Mg 74.7% from G and more than 91.5% from LH1, Fe 29.7% from G and 99.9% from LH1 and LH2, Cu 64.3% from G and 99.8% from LH1 and LH2, Ca 28.4% from G and 75.4% from CSFT, Zn 12.0% from G and 38.2% from LH1. Only Mg and Ca release depended on NDF degradation and time.
