In 2007, the malting varieties of spring barley Anaconda, Marthe and Sebastian were registered in the Slovak Republic. Malting quality of these varieties were analysed and compared. The values of malt extract of the varieties Anaconda and Marthe were above the average. Malt of the variety Sebastian showed a high extract concentration and high activities of both proteolytic and amylolytic enzymes. A very good attenuation was observed in all the three varieties tested. Except for the three above-mentioned varieties, spring barley non-malting varieties Beatrix and Slaven as well as two-row winter varieties Boreale, Carrero and Finesse were registered in the Slovak Republic during the last years.
