Sixty-seven boars of the Prestice black-pied breed, an endangered Czech pig breed, were used in this study aiming to evaluate the effect of the cryopreservation on the quality of their semen. We produced 4,446 straws during a 7-year period. Each ejaculate was tested before and during processing and after thawing. The average volume of ejaculate was 190.5 mL with 489,120/cubic mm spermatozoa. Sperm motility was 78.87% before processing and 32.83% after thawing. The insemination of forty-eight sows resulted in a conception rate of 52.08%. The main success of this activity was the revitalization of four extinct genealogical lines of boars.
