Eighteen spring barley varieties from the 2008 harvest were used in order to determine the level of grain post harvest maturation and germinability. Germinative energy, germinative rate and germinative index were significantly influenced by the location. They depended on the variety too, as nine weeks after achieving full maturity, the varieties Spilka, Diplom, Aktiv, Radegast, Westminster, Jersey, Bojos, Prestige, Xanadu, Blanik and Acrobat showed very intensive germination, whereas the varieties Calgary, Aksamit, Marthe and Publican showed a low level of germination.
