The objective of this study was to optimize a modern method of extraction on the fluidized bed for the determination of lipids in barley caryopses and malt. Concentrations of different fatty acids were determined in lipids extracted from barley caryopsis and malt. The fatty acids were determined as methyl esters prepared with transesterification reaction. The esters formed were separated using gas chromatography with flame ionization detection on the capillary column SLB-IL 100.
