Non-starch polysaccharides (arabinoxylans and beta-glucans) were determined in samples of barley grain harvested from two Czech localities in 2010. The effects of genotype (14 spring varieties and lines), locality (Kromeriz and Zabcice) and chemical control (limited chemical inputs and conventional growing technology) were evaluated. Concentrations of non-starch polysaccharides were significantly affected by genotype, locality and treatment level. A significant negative dependence was found between arabinoxylans and beta-glucans (r = -0.64).
