The polymorphism of growth hormone gene at amino acid position 127 was studied using the methods polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism. The primers 5'-GCTGCTCCTGAGGGCCCTTCG-3'and 5'-GCGGCGGCACTTCATGACCCT-3' were used to amplify the fragment of 223 bp. The PCR product was split by AluI. The frequency of allele V was 0.442 in Czech Pied cattle (Simmental), 0.300 in Czech Black and White, 0.167 in German Black and White, and 0.490 in Czech Red cattle, which is the original Czech brachycerous cattle and belongs to the endangered genetic resource. There were found statistical differences in allelic and genotype frequencies.
