Treatment of Chlorella sp.cells witch glumatic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline caused stimulation of accumulation of the chlorophyll precursor magnesium protoporphyrin IX monomethyl ester in the dark. Mg-protoporphyrin IX monomethyl ester induced the processes resulting in photodynamic damage to plants cells. The components of photodynamic herbicides inhibited assimilation of CO2 by Chlorella cells
