In international practice appears the tendency of application of self-propelled specialized agricultural machinery. Self-propelled machines have high performance, the best indicators of quality of work and good maneuverability. Self-propelled potato harvesters can replace two or three two-row trailed harvester, thus reducing labor costs by 3 times and fuel consumption of cleaning per hectare in 2 times. However, implementation of self-propelled machine causes the increase of complexity of functions of combiner-driver, enforced to combine the duties of operators and drivers, as well as control the working bodies of the combine, that is difficult in terms of sealing and insulation of the cabins' position. Therefore, according to the terms of reference for the development of four-row self-propelled potato harvester outlined in automation of this machine include the following systems: control of the reliability of the process; stabilization of the control of plowshares' depth; control of forward speed; automatic driving; regulation of working bodies; regulation of the height of the fall of the tubers during unloading in the vehicle, and automatic load control processor. A principal scheme of self-propelled vehicle, developed in research organizations of the Republic of Belarus, is presented. Economic efficiency of utilization of the equipment in field conditions is analyzed.
