Analysis of Genetic Relationships in Garlic Germplasm and Fertile Garlic by RAPD

Genetic similarity was evaluated by RAPD analysis in 75 garlic clones. Of the 120 random primers screened, 15 primers were useful in revealing a total of 128 polymorphic bands with an average of 8.5 bands per primer and amplified fragments ranging from 300 bp to 3000 bp. The markers were scored based on the presence vs. absence of a specific amplification product, and grouped by cluster analysis using simple matching coefficients of similarity.
