Resistance to anthracnose has been identified in Capsicum annuum during routine regeneration of Capsicum germplasm at Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center Eleven plants from four heterogeneous populations were selected as being resistant to anthracnose. Selected individual plants of 'Apaseo Pasilla' and 'Pasilla' in C. annuum and TC06842 in C. baccatum were resistant at all fruit stages. 'Ancho Mulato' in C. annuum, however, was resistant to anthracnose only at the green fruit stage. 'Apaseo Pasilla', 'Ancho Mulato', and 'Pasilla' have a chlorophyll retainer gene and large fruit size.
