This experiment was conducted to obtain effect of long-term barley straw addition on soil nitrogen dynamics and growth and yield of yield of rice in dry direct seeding under rice-barley double cropping. Redox potential in barley straw added soil is lowest from tillering to panicle initiation stage, thereafter, recovered and similar to barley straw removed and rice a single crop. NH₄-N content in barley straw added soil is higher than other treatments after topdressing, and especially increased sharply at panicle initiation stage.
