Research on the Practitioners' Metaphor about HRD

This study is based on three approaches to explore practitioners' perception of HRD through metaphors. The study’s findings can be summarized as follows. First, HRD practitioners perceived HRD as various components such as characteristic, focus, recognition, activity, individual growth, organizational performance and job satisfaction, but they largely perceived it in terms of output. Second, comprehensive metaphors as according to the metaphor analysis were hologram, seesaw, foil, supporter, vitamin, prescription, marathon, farming, jewel processing, magic, lubricant, compass, clenbuteral and satisfaction. Some of the concepts of HRD that came up were growth, future, change, reflection, compositeness and balance, with the dominant concept being growth. Third, creative metaphors based on individual experience were knife, one-sided love, energy business.
