The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of the rural development projects on residents’ satisfaction. For this purpose, a few areas were selected where the Pivotal Center Vitalization Project (PCVP) and the Regional Unit Project (RUP) were carried out to conduct residents’ survey. The ordered probit model was applied to the data from the residents’ survey to estimate factors influencing their satisfaction. The results show that the satisfaction was higher among the residents in the PCVP than those in the RUP. The older the residents were, the more satisfied with the project they were. The longer they lived in the districts, the higher their satisfaction was. Analysis of variance shows that satisfaction rise as they understand the project better, get older, and live longer at their current residence. Results and findings are expected to provide some policy implications regarding rural development. The study, however, has its limitations since it is difficult to generalize its results based on the case study of six districts in the Gyeongnam Province.
